Preparing for Science Bowl is a fun way to learn science. Kids will gain knowledge on the Earth and Space Science topics listed below. They will participate in science knowledge competition in class and an online quiz.
1. Our Solar System - Sun /Solar Eclipse, Planets (inner/Outer), Earth, Moon /Moon Phases/Lunar Eclipse, and Weather.
2. International Space Station, Moon exploration, and Mars Exploration
Every week students will be assigned videos to review and hands-on & online assignments to complete after the class to reinforce learning. At the end of the course, students will have a science bowl quiz, and the winner will win an award.
PS NOTE: Students will have access to the course online for six months.

Students will be introduced to singing and playing keyboard and/or dholak. By the 3rd or 4th class, students will choose to focus on singing and keyboard or dholak. Students learning keyboard and dholak will need to purchase or rent an instrument to take home to practice.

All students will learn the basic musical swar: Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni. They will learn to play keyboard exercises using correct fingering. Simple bhajan or kirtan will be taught. Dholak students will learn how to hit the dholak open-hand style. They will learn single beat and eventually double beat. They will practice keeping a steady beat when accompanying a chanter. Students will learn to sing a kirtan and will also play it on their instrument. They will learn to play together as a musical ensemble group.

This course will teach students how to write and deliver a public speech effectively on a topic or an issue that is critical to society. The approach will be age-appropriate, and each class will have a goal. At the end of the course, students will deliver a four to six-minute speech without the use of notes on their topic.
The process taught to write the speech will include:
• Defining the problem
• Researching the issue
• Looking at both sides of the issue, determining the pros and cons of the problem.
• Concluding and
• Supporting that conclusion with documentation.
• Writing the Speech
Along with the process, they will learn the skills of speech delivery - pitch, volume, tone, pace, enunciation, body language, and more. They will get opportunities to practice the speech before delivering it. An assessment checklist will be provided to ensure the speech script is written well and practiced well for delivery. Students will submit a speech script for review and get evaluated for their speech delivery.
Every week students will be assigned videos to review and hands-on & online assignments to complete after the class to reinforce learning. Parents are encouraged to join the virtual sessions and support the kids in the process.
Skills developed can be used at school on project presentations; to compete in competitions as UIL (University Interscholastic League), for Modern Oratory, Debate, Extemporaneous Speech, and more.

The Simple and Powered Machines program introduces and provides students a deeper understanding of science and engineering concepts.
It introduces the concept of Simple Machines as Wheel and Axle, Lever, Pulley, Inclined plane, Wedge, Screw, Gear, Cam, Paul, and Ratchet, teach how to calculate the mechanical advantage of these machines. Learning is reinforced by building machines using specialized Lego kit, conducting experiments, and recording the findings on worksheets.
The course then introduces students to structures, and students will learn what makes a structure strong. Students also get engaged in hands-on activities building Bean Balance, powered Tower Crane, Ramp, powered Gear Racer, Catapult, Hand Cart, Powered Merry Go Round, and more.
A problem is introduced, solutions brainstormed, a concept is taught, and students build machines using the simple machine concept. The activities lead students to make use of the scientific method through observation, reasoning, prediction, and critical thinking.
Every week students will be assigned videos to review and hands-on & online assignments to complete after the class to reinforce learning. At the end of the course, the students are assigned a problem to solve, which they solve using the concepts of the simple and powered machines.
The Simple and Powered Machines curriculum covers concepts and engages students in activities aligned to Science and Engineering Practices outlined in the Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS).

This course offers an introduction to the ancient art of Hindustani/North Indian classical music. Instruction will include melodic concepts such as Raag, Bandish, Bhaav, Aalaap, Taan, Sargam and rhythmic concepts such as Taal and Aavartan, and their integrated use in a performance. Students will practice and learn classical and devotional song compositions based on Raag.

Key benefits include development of ability to identify swara (notes), sense of sur (tunefulness) and taal (rhythm); development of ability to present a brief classical music composition and ability to appreciate and relate to Raag music. No specific knowledge or skill level of vocal/instrumental music is necessary.
