Skills taught in the class :
Speaking, Reading and Writing. The class time will be decided by the teacher based on the convenience of the registered students.
Dr. Nalini Ravindran is a passionate English teacher and has vast administrative experience as Academic Advisor, Senior Principal, Founder Principal, and Subject Supervisor of well known schools in Chennai and Tamil Nadu, India. She specialized in teaching English through PGDTE at the English and Foreign Languages University in Hyderabad, India. She is the recipient of the Presidential/National Award for the Best Teacher for the year 2001, from the President of India, Shri Abdul Kalaam, the award being given by the Government of India. She was selected by the HRD Ministry - Human Resource Development Ministry of India - and trained in Communicative Approach in Teaching and Testing English in England from January - April 1990, through the CBSE ELT PROJECT. She has been training English teachers and educationists all over India in Communicative and Skill based Approach in English as the Master Trainer and Resource Person in more than 150 Orientation workshops since 1990 till date. She is a skilled and experienced instructor and we are grateful to have her at Shiksha.

Structure of the session:
· The tabla class will be for beginners who are interested in learning the tabla instrument.
· Students will be first taught theory and history of the tabla drum alongside basic bols and hand strokes.
· Creating a strong foundation on Sur, Taal, and Lay will be heavily emphasized.
· As the students gradually learn and improve, the class will move ahead to more advanced structures and material.
· Students will be taught the popular rhythmic cycles that are present in Hindustani classical music, as well as popular Indian folk Rhythms.
· The class will also have an emphasis on tabla accompaniment for Mostly Kirtan, bhajan classical and light classical music.

· Must take aside a minimum of 3 days a week, one hour a day to practice. If you can do more, that’s even better.

Learning from experiment and experience, Strengthening of basic concepts and specific topics in Science. Remedial teaching through a diagnostic test if needed, and driving home the concepts through assignments

About Sachi Kulkarni:
Sachi graduated in May 2024 from UT Austin with a bachelor's degree in Public Health with Honors. She wrote and presented her honors thesis right before graduation. She previously taught at Shiksha in a camp format and is a very passionate teacher.
About Class:
In this class, we will learn about the structure of a speech, how to properly write and deliver a piece of writing, and end the semester with a group presentation.
For older kids, Sachi will share tips for interviews and college essays. Classes are for elementary school and above, and are scheduled to be hybrid from 11am-12pm on Sundays. We will meet in-person at least once a month and class charge will be $180 for 10 classes. Private classes can also be offered for those interested.

Please join the Parent & Child Yoga - a class for the whole family. Parents and young kids are practicing yoga together in a supportive environment. In this class parents are role models of mindfulness, and thus children learn yoga naturally in a play.

Kids Yoga: ages 6-10 Sundays 11:30-12:30
Focus of class is to engage young minds in the knowledge of the body, internal organs and lymphatic system. Practicing postures, stillness and pranayam and how it develops strength, balance, focus and helps regulate the nervous system. Kids will get to choose a pose each class to teach.

Gowri Manasa, a self-learned art teacher, would be conducting "Dot Mandala and Lippan art" workshop. She started learning art from her childhood and has great experience in teaching art back in India.
In this workshop you can learn about dot mandala art types, designs primarily used in Lippan art, acquire skills to use dotting tools for different strokes, understand how to use clay and craft mirrors for Lippan art.
